Blowing up your friends is fun. Throwing them off of tall things into dangerous things is fun, too. Eyebrow Interactive knows this to be true, and has combined these two great joys to create Bombernauts, a game of exploding robots off of things. Still, why stop there? Why not add goodies, breakable terrain, bats, and all manner of other means to create more mayhem and laugh at your friends' misfortunes? Bombernauts is looking to create some wild multiplayer parties right out of the gate when it releases on Steam Early Access on July 31.
Bombernauts is a busy multiplayer game. You only lose when you fall off the map, but there are plenty of ways to get dropped. Bombs are the most common, but if you see one in your path, you're not stuck. You have a handy bat to knock any explosive out of your way - preferably right into someone else's. These bombs are also capable of destroying terrain and opening up holes in the map, creating more opportunities for your opponents to fail. When you're not busy destroying the map, you might also notice several different types of ground that can be sticky, slippery, bouncy, or provide some other means to make traversal and survival more complicated. There's also the mysterious items the developer has promised, all overpowered in fun ways that will make every match a series of chaotic, explosive moments.
If all of that ends up feeling played out, Bombernauts has an added level creator for players to make their own fiendish arenas. There's already one hundred maps to keep you busy in this release, but it never hurts to be able to make a few more. With bombs exploding everywhere, bats swinging, and black holes consuming the map, Bombernauts promises some wild matches that you and your buddies can be bitter about for weeks after.
Bombernauts will be available for $10 on Steam Early Access on July 31, 2015. For more information on the game and developer Eyebrow Interactive, you can head to the game's site, the developer's site, or follow them on YouTube and Twitter.
