When Death Moose has the audacity to kidnap the Frog Force's sensei, they'll have to combine their budding skills to take down his cat and work their way through a series of puzzle-like mazes to save their master! Luckily, each frog has been highly trained in the art of laying bombs, jumping up and down, and croaking, which is conveniently all the skills they'll need to overcome the evil moose's traps. The only thing the old sensei forgot to teach them was the value of patience and concentration, as carelessly leaping ahead in Frog Force will result in a lot of dead amphibians.
Frog Force's rad protagonists look too cool to pay attention to tutorials, but you'd better listen if you hope to get far. Each frog has their own ability that lets them get rid of obstacles, and can jump any distance across the screen so long as something doesn't get in the way. That's enough for most puzzle games, but Lazy Brain Games ups the complexity. You have to step on certain tiles with the right color of frog, and these tiles move a meter along the bottom of the screen. Landing on specific tabs on that meter will get you bonuses or deadly penalties, so not only are you solving puzzles above, but you have to do them in the right amount of steps made in the correct way in order to win. These decisions are also timed, and if you take too long, you're screwed in other ways.
It sounds like a ton of things to think about, and it is, but the bright colors, awesome frog heroes, and overall chill vibe make the game surprisingly relaxing given how complex it is. Adding in some happy, upbeat tunes to set a soothing pace for the game just gives Frog Force this great atmosphere that kept me calm and focused on the task at hand. Does Death Moose know how much I'm enjoying overcoming his traps? I hope not.
