Devouring Stars launches out of early access

Spreading.gifI covered Nerial's unusual RTS Devouring Stars back in April as an early access pick, and now it's out of early access and into full release. This unusual RTS sports an improved interface and tutorial as a result of its time in early access and now has multiplayer as well.

For those unfamiliar with Devouring Stars, it's an RTS in which every unit is precious because the units you start a run of missions with are all you get. The only resource is stars, which the units can devour to power themselves up with, but the only way to make new units is to combine the ones the player already has. Combined units can be uncombined, too, but combining and recombining also take time. It's a minimalist RTS, but one that doesn't lack for depth of strategy.

Devouring Stars is available on Windows, Mac, and Linux. It is currently 15% off of the regular $9.99 price tag for its launch. It was made by solo developer Nerial and its soundtrack can be purchased separately or in a bundle with the game.
